Hello,

I've noticed a lot of SPAM being posted lately.

For example, I have just a few posts here, but they are pure technically related with specific technical issues, and I'm constantly receiving answers and personal messaged about: handbags, traveling, virus scanning - not related to Documentum at all!

Is there something the forum staff can do about this? Or... can we do something about this?

Best regards,
Predrag

There has been a clean up here recently, with blocks on the spammiest email sources and IP addresses. But it is a part-time job. I've seen that nasty "scan your disks" message (an applet which reports "38 trojans"). I'm in touch with the main man who has done a lot of work over the years to keep the site alive - the next step may need a delay between registering and posting. I've seen other bbs preventing new users from using URLs which might be a good solution here.

What can we all do? The sources for the spam here have been the usual open countries and hijacked machines. There is no punishment for net abuse, and our glorious leaders are too busy trying to bring in censorship instead of a resolution.

If you see reply spams, send me a PM and I will look into it. I can easily catch the new postings by RSS but not the replies.

I've gone back to that old mod approval idea. It's now turned on so all we have to do is report the existing spammers so they can be deleted. Please give problem spammer usernames in this thread.

Ta muchly,

The Main Man (thanks Colum)

UPDATE. I've deleted all the spam messages from message inboxes (without going through inboxes you'll be pleased to hear!).
